Secret Sapphire
Secret Sapphire is a luxury jewelry boutique that prides itself on individual customer service. The boutique needed to have a luxury atmosphere, but also feel fun, bold, and playful.
We incorporated custom millwork, display cases and high-end custom lighting throughout. Vintage furniture completes the space, giving it the desired luxury vibe in a cheerful and inviting way.
Secret Sapphire is another example of the successful collaboration between AK Design and Klondike Construction.
TEDx CONCOURSE
Vancouver
For the design of the TEDx Concourse in Vancouver, we worked with the developers to create a fun, inspiring space for guests to recharge and connect in between sessions. With TEDx being a brain-heavy event, we wanted to design a stylish and inviting lounge area outfitted for a DJ, live music and plenty of seating for easy-going networking.
The space resembles a local fashion music boutique, perfect for Vancouver’s creatives to unwind and soak in the uplifting atmosphere.
Joe's Apartment

This fun Vancouver nightclub needed a look that was vibrant and stylish without being too cheesy. In collaboration with Klondike construction we added a red brick veneer aesthetic and paired it with glimmering chandeliers for a bit of a twist. Hanging records add a playful and creative touch to this musical space, giving it a laid-back “house-party” atmosphere with a hint of glamour.
Vancouver Academy of Music

Fusing old and new.
The exciting part of this project is combining modern technology into a mid-century modern building.
We used art from the Academy foyer as inspiration, and included it in the design by transforming it into the theatre lobby. Our firm designed all the interiors, with code consultations from Shape Architecture.
VMC residential tower

An FF&E project we worked on for the residential tower at The Vancouver Masonic Centre in collaboration with Colliers Canada and SHAPE Architecture. Our goal was to create spaces that were modern and tranquil and complemented the existing harmonic geometry of the building.
Being a public space, we opted for durable materials to account for constant foot traffic. In keeping with the structure’s contemporary architecture, we selected pieces that seamlessly blend with the rest of the space, transforming it into one cohesive unit.
